According to what psychologists refer to as “the halo effect,” people in general tend to assume that if a person possesses one good quality, they probably possess others as well. Many studies have been conducted on the topic of money and good looks, and much of the data points to attractive people making more money than those who are not considered attractive.

The Benefits of Being Attractive to Others

Research has indicated that “the halo effect” extends to our perceptions of attractive people’s personalities, too. When we find someone attractive, we tend to view them as warmer, more sociable, and intelligent than we do to people we are not attracted to. We also perceive them as being mentally healthy and skilled.

That could be why the handsome serial killer, Ted Bundy got away with his murders. Evidence showed that in most cases there was no struggle wit his victims.

Attractive people enjoy this positive perception of themselves. Because of this they’re far more likely to end up with healthy levels of confidence, better social skills, and a brighter outlook on life.
